Elections for Club Officers will be held at the annual business meeting to be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 after Round 15. Location will be announced shortly.
There is a need for club members to step up and support their club. The STRA is a volunteer run organization and there are key positions that are required, with specific duties for each position.
President : The position is open for 2020, and is in need of a club member to step up. Currently this position is held by Douglas Kauffman. If you are interested or know someone that you think would be a good fit please contact us. This position requires someone with the ability to lead the club into the future. The ideal candidate will have above average communication and organization skills, and have the ability to delegate as required to other club officers, while providing guidance as required to other club officers and club members. Traditionally the President leads the riders meeting at each event, assists with registration as required and is present for the awards ceremony at the end of each event.
Vice-President : This position is also vacant for 2020. Currently this position is held by Francois Saint Laurent. This member will be out of the country extensively over the next year and this position, as well as the President, should be filled by members who are able to attend a large number of the events. This position consists of supporting the President in the successful operation of the club, and will also require someone with above average communication and organization skills. Traditionally this person will assist with the riders meeting and awards ceremony at each event and be the lead at events where the President is unable to attend. In addition this position traditionally helps with on site membership applications.
Competition Director : Currently this position is held by Dawn Shirley. Dawn is willing to continue in this position should no one else step up. This position consists of arriving early at every event, and performing the duties of on site registration each day and collecting registration fees. Familiarity with Excel is a must and the ability to work in a fast paced environment is a plus. After registration is complete and the event has started, this position receives the rider score cards as they return after each loop, ensures they are properly added up, and enters them accordingly into the master score sheet to keep track of the points for each rider.
Sporting Steward : Currently this position is held by Eric Mattson. Eric is willing to continue in this position should no one else step up. This position is responsible for ensuring that the sections are safe for each class, and that they are at an appropriate level of difficulty for the applicable class. The Sporting Steward is responsible for viewing each section prior to the riders meeting each day, and reporting on any safety concerns or issues that riders need to be made aware of each day.
Youth Director : Currently this position is co-held by Curt and Dewanna Comer. The have both shown a tremendous commitment to their responsibilities but are giving up their post for 2020. This position is responsible for promoting the growth of trials by setting up multiple trials sections specifically catering to very young riders, giving them their first taste of Observed Trials and helping them prepare to enter a regular STRA event.
Secretary : Currently suspended as we did not have a member in this position. These duties have been performed jointly by the President and Vice President over the last two years. This position requires a working relationship with the AMA, and requires ensuring our charter is renewed every year, ensuring our events are sanctioned and insured with the AMA, ensuring waivers are obtained and on site at each event for member signatures, and then sending results of each event to the AMA as part of a Results Reporting for each event. The Secretary is also the person responsible for Risk Management at each event.
Treasurer : Currently suspended as we did not have a member in this position. These duties have been performed jointly by the President and Vice President over the last two years. This position would ideally be filled by someone with a financial or accounting background. The Treasurer is responsible for monitoring the clubs financials, bank accounts, etc. and ensuring that club revenue and expenses are properly tracked.
Media Director :Title for Media Director position to be renamed “Website Director” to better reflect the actual role. Currently this position is held by Francois Saint Laurent. Francois is willing to continue in this position as it can be performed from anywhere. This position requires a familiarity with WordPress, the ability to read and write PayPal code, as well as an overall understanding of website functionality, domain management, email account creation, and overall maintenance of the environment needed for the clubs web site.
