I wanted to provide an update since starting the transition into the president’s role. To date, I’ve been primarily been learning how things work. A big thanks to Ray, Dawn, Kim, Francois, Douglas, Randy and Juney for their help. I don’t anticipate making any drastic changes but just some little tweaks here and there to enhance communications and organization.
In early January, the website will be updated to accept 2021 memberships. There has been some discussion of a permanent or season long rider number for use with the clipboard scoring. We believe we have a way to make that happen with minimal impact on the riders, checkers, and scorers. We’ll announce that when we open up the website for 2021 memberships. The clipboard scoring was implemented in response to the pandemic, and will continue into the 2021 season. I’m hopeful that conditions will permit a return to scorecard scoring sometime in 2021.
Our first club event for 2021 is the 2020 Awards Banquets and Fun Trial. This year it will be held at The Alan Shirley International Pavilion and Recreational Sports Complex, Main Ballroom, 100 Pierce Drive, Ringgold, GA (credit to Francois for coining the name). The banquet will be on February 20, 2021 and the fun trial the following day.
The first trials event of the season will be Fun In the Sun with the Florida Trials Association on March 6-7 at the Hardrock Offroad Park in Ocala, Florida. Ray has been working with the other trials masters to establish the rest of the 2021 schedule. We will publish that in January.
As we close out a year unlike any other, I hope you all have an opportunity to spend time with friends and family over the Christmas and New Years Holidays.
Cool weather and lots of sunshine made for great riding weather at the 58K, hosted by TTC last weekend. Hope to see everyone next weekend at Ringgold. Please remember if you have rule change proposals, they are due when sign up closes at 8pm Eastern time Thursday!
Thanks to Jamie and Mike for a fun and challenging weekend. Big thanks to Henry for letting us enjoy his hillside yet again. At the link below the results for each day can be viewed. I believe these have been error checked but if you see something that needs our attention, please send me an email and we will get to the bottom of it. I am aware the sheets say spring splash in them. I could fix it but I really don’t want to, please be assured these are the droids you’re looking for…
I think the results speak for themselves. Over 70 riders on Saturday for a great event. Below are the results. Overall the format worked well, we will continue to refine the scoring system at the table to minimize the delay between event completing and the trophy presentation.
I look forward to seeing everyone at Papa Joes Aug 29,30. Online signup only again, stay tuned for online membership very soon. If you are having issues with signup, contact one of the club officers BEFORE signup closes and we will do our best to resolve your issue.
06/05/2020 — We will be kicking things back into action at the Trials Training Center for the ” Spring Splash – June 27,28. There will be some temporary procedural changes for the event.
NO onsite sign up. Please go to the Schedule on the STRA website and click on the green link to sign up. We need to know who is riding so section scoring clipboards can be prepared for the event.
When you arrive at the event, please come sign the releases (AMA and TTC) and receive your event number. Please put this on your number plate. The checker will ask you for this number to record your score, without it, no score. There will be no punch cards.
We are exciting to see everyone again after such a long break, please be considerate of others regarding masks, social distance, etc. If you aren’t feeling well please stay home.
April 20, 2020 – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended strict observation of social distancing rules, and many states are now imposing a maximum size of participants at public gatherings.
Along with these restrictions on public gatherings, many businesses such as restaurants, motels, grocery stores, etc. are also either closing or reducing their hours of operation. Given all of these factors, the club officers of the STRA feel that it is in everyones best interests to postpone future events until this situation is under control. Club Officers will monitor the situation and events will resume when we feel confident that there is no longer a risk for members and/or spectators.
We hope that all club members will support this difficult decision, and understand that it was made with the best interest of the club members in mind.
