Wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope everyone is able to spend time with family and friends over the next couple of weeks. If you’re able to get a little riding in too, all the better!
I have incorporated rule changes approved by the membership at the business meeting and posted to rules for 2022 to the Riding Rules section of the website.
After the toy trial at TTC we spent some time the following day to scout some section locations for the national. We’ve identified some good section areas that haven’t been used in a while (if ever). We will have a work weekend on January 15-16 (and 17 if that is a holiday for you) to start the work of clearing out sections. A couple of us will be bringing chainsaws and limb loppers. Come on out and pitch in!
The 2021 season championship results are in and have been added to the results page, or take a look at them at the link below.
Congratulations to the podium place finishers, as well as all of the competitors in 2021.

At least four sets of eyes have reviewed them so we believe everything is correct. However it is remotely conceivable there might be some discrepancies between what you think happened, what actually happened and what we recorded happening. This was not out of malice towards you, most likely a simple mistake, so please approach us with an appropriate attitude and we will do our best to uncover what actually happened. It’s hard to believe that we’re over halfway through the 2021 season, and are in our summer break. Even though STRA is on break, there are plenty of trials events in June and early July to keep even the hardcore trials enthusiast satisfied. These include:
June 5 – Trials des Georgia at the Chirt Pit in Ringgold
June 5 – North Georgia Vintage Trials at Henry’s Hills in Cornelia
June 6 – CVOTC trials in Albemarle, NC
June 12 – AHRMA trials in Bybee, TN
June 19-20 – AMA/NATC National in Farrandsville, PA
June 26-27 – AMA/NATC National in Little Hocking, OH
June 28-30 – Family Camp at the Trials Training Center
July 1-3 – East Coast Youth Nationals & Women’s Open 2021 at the Trials Training Center
Enjoy your summer and we’ll see you in the fall when our season resumes at Henry’s Hills in Cornelia, GA on September 18-19.
I wanted to provide an update since starting the transition into the president’s role. To date, I’ve been primarily been learning how things work. A big thanks to Ray, Dawn, Kim, Francois, Douglas, Randy and Juney for their help. I don’t anticipate making any drastic changes but just some little tweaks here and there to enhance communications and organization.
In early January, the website will be updated to accept 2021 memberships. There has been some discussion of a permanent or season long rider number for use with the clipboard scoring. We believe we have a way to make that happen with minimal impact on the riders, checkers, and scorers. We’ll announce that when we open up the website for 2021 memberships. The clipboard scoring was implemented in response to the pandemic, and will continue into the 2021 season. I’m hopeful that conditions will permit a return to scorecard scoring sometime in 2021.
Our first club event for 2021 is the 2020 Awards Banquets and Fun Trial. This year it will be held at The Alan Shirley International Pavilion and Recreational Sports Complex, Main Ballroom, 100 Pierce Drive, Ringgold, GA (credit to Francois for coining the name). The banquet will be on February 20, 2021 and the fun trial the following day.
The first trials event of the season will be Fun In the Sun with the Florida Trials Association on March 6-7 at the Hardrock Offroad Park in Ocala, Florida. Ray has been working with the other trials masters to establish the rest of the 2021 schedule. We will publish that in January.
As we close out a year unlike any other, I hope you all have an opportunity to spend time with friends and family over the Christmas and New Years Holidays.
Cool weather and lots of sunshine made for great riding weather at the 58K, hosted by TTC last weekend. Hope to see everyone next weekend at Ringgold. Please remember if you have rule change proposals, they are due when sign up closes at 8pm Eastern time Thursday!
Thanks to Jamie and Mike for a fun and challenging weekend. Big thanks to Henry for letting us enjoy his hillside yet again. At the link below the results for each day can be viewed. I believe these have been error checked but if you see something that needs our attention, please send me an email and we will get to the bottom of it. I am aware the sheets say spring splash in them. I could fix it but I really don’t want to, please be assured these are the droids you’re looking for…
